Thomas E. Miller Sr., 76, of North Syracuse and Zephrhills, FL, died Saturday evening at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse where he was a patient for 12 days.
Tom was born on the family farm in Harrisville on August 30, 1940, the son of the late Frederick and Grace North Miller. He was a graduate of Harrisville High School and attended JCC. Tom served in the US Air Force from 1957 until 1961. He married the former Sandra Jean Steenburgh on September 14, 1957. The marriage ended in divorce. He later married Mary Lynn Miller on October 28, 1990. Mary Lynn died on July 23, 2009.
Tom worked from 1961 to 1977 for the Crown Zellerbach Corp. in Carthage. He transferred to their operations in California and continued to work at various paper mills on the West Coast until his retirement.
Tom was an avid golfer and former member of Carlowden Country Club, a former member of the Mason's and Elks Lodge. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his companion, Barbara Wicks, two daughters, Cyndie-Lou Tifft of Wellesley Island and Mrs. Curtis (Bethany) Todd of Watertown, a son and his wife, Thomas and Mona Miller of Waddington, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Ted (Hilda) Collette of Harrisville and nieces and nephews. A son-in-law, Kevin Tifft and 2 brothers, Mark and Frederick Miller and a sister, Mary DeHart are predeceased.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 26th at 5:00 pm at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Harrisville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-5pm on Wednesday.
