Carthage - William F. "Bill" Soules, Jr., 74, of 21757 Farney Pit Road, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, May 9, 2016 after a long battle with numerous health issues. Bill remained positive throughout his many illnesses.

Bill was born in Watertown on June 2, 1941, the son of the late William F. and Margaret LaMoreaux Soules Sr. He was united in marriage to the former Patricia A. "Patsy" Scott on April 20, 1968 at St. James Church in Carthage. He was a Master Sergeant with the US Air Force, retiring after 24 ½ years of service in September of 1987. He especially enjoyed working at Aubuchon Hardware in West Carthage for many years after his retirement. He loved hunting, fishing and playing golf.

Bill was a member of the VFW Post # 7227, American Legion Post # 789 and BPOE Lodge # 1762, all of Carthage.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Patsy of Carthage, one daughter: Mary Alice Tracy and her companion, Richard Hardy Jr., Carthage, two sons and their wives: Scott and Shannon Soules, Black River and Todd and Ruth Soules, Carthage, 6 grandchildren Derek Soules, Kaileigh Brown, Sara and Scotti Jr. Soules, Nathan Tracy and Paige Soules; one sister: Marion Maxim of Watertown and several nieces and nephews. Three sisters, Doris Mallette, Myrna Denny and Ruth Blackman and two brothers, Leonard and Kenneth Soules died previous.


Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Donald A. Robinson, Pastor officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Hillside Cemetery, Champion. Family and friends may call at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7pm. Memorial services will be provided by members of the VFW # 7227 on Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm.
