Carthage - William S. Spellan, 59, of 35510 Jackson II Road, died Wednesday evening, August 13, 2014, in the Emergency Room of the Carthage Area Hospital. He had been battling cancer for the past eight years.
William was born in Yonkers, NY, the son of the late Harold R. and Ruth M. Felix Spellan. He attended Carthage schools. He served in the Army from 1973 to 1976. He was a tractor trailer driver for several years and also drove dump truck for T.J. Clement of Watertown. He worked construction on Fort Drum and finally did weatherization for CAPC of Watertown until his illness would not allow him to work.
He loved hunting and fishing, country music and Harley Davidson motorcycles.
He is survived by two sons: Michael A. Spellan and William L. Spellan, both of Carthage, two daughters: Brandy Getman of Carthage and Tammy McDaniel of Georgia, five sisters: Anna Spellan of Tunica, MI, Elaine Palladino of Carthage, Connie Fulton of Clayville, NY, Carol Carroll of Norfolk, VA and Tina Dunn of Chittenango, one brother: Harold Spellan of Carthage and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes his body will be cremated. There will be no calling hours. The family will receive friends and family on Monday, August 18th at the Palladino residence, down by the river.
