Wilmer G. Schriock, 94, a longtime resident of the Wrape Road, Carthage, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side Tuesday evening, July 23,2024 at the Hospice Residence of Jefferson County in Watertown.
Wilmer (Willie) was born on February 14,1930 in Carson, ND, the son of the late Godfrey and Laura (Voll) Schriock. He served in the US Army from 1954-1956. He was united in marriage to Yvonne E. Camidge on February 12,1956 at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Watertown. He worked for the St. Regis Paper Company in Deferiet for 36 years, retiring from Champion International in 1992.
The couple produced organic fruits and vegetables at their Carthage home to sell at both the Carthage and Watertown Farmers Markets for 20 years. They also enjoyed fishing and hunting for many years. The couple enjoyed traveling, including many trips back to his former home in Carson, ND. They have lived in Zephyrhills, Florida since selling their home in Carthage.
He was a long time and current member of the BPOE Elks Lodge 1762 of Carthage and former member of the Carthage Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Yvonne E. Schriock of Zephyrhills, FL, two daughters and their husbands: Carrie and Darrell Sweredoski of Watertown and Rita and Tim Brudz of Attica, three grandchildren, Michael (Kristin) Sweredoski of Pasadena, CA, Sam (Sarah) Brudz of Attica and Roy Brudz of Rochester, three great grandchildren, Zachary Sweredoski, Palmer and Emmy Brudz, two sisters, Marilyn Blanton, Chula Vista, CA and Cindy Schriock of Mandan, ND and two brothers, Kenneth Schriock of Carson, ND and Donald Schriock of Nampa, ID. Two brothers, Marvin and Milton Schriock are predeceased.
Graveside services with military honors will be held on Saturday, August 10 at 11:30am in Fairview Cemetery, Carthage with Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating. Immediately following the graveside service, all are invited to a Celebration of Life at the American Legion in Carthage. There will be no calling hours.
